What is GoGirlGo?

GoGirlGo! is a free curriculum created by the Womens' Sports Foundation geared towards 8-18 year old girls.  It has 8 sections and can be implemented as an after-school program, summer program, or incorporated into PE lessons.  It can be implemented at a school, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, church, synagogue, girl scouts, and a variety of other places.  The groups meet 8-10 times (or longer if you want).  Each group meeting you spend about half an hour talking about a successful female athlete and an adolescent issue (such as bullying, diversity, body shape).  The other half hour is spent doing physical actvity.  It can be the same thing every week or something different every week.  The girls could learn a sport (basketball), individual exercise (yoga), or simply be lead in physical games (hopscotch, jumprope, etc.).  The organization that wants to use this curriculum will be supported by Hadassah Seattle.  We will give you guidance, support, training, and more.

The free curriculum packet provides all the information and materials a new leader needs to create a GoGirlGo! group, including GoGirls' Guide to Life, a GoGirl Scrapbook, parent's guide and a leader's guide.  Click here to view:  curriculumscrapbook , or leader's guide.  GoGirlGo! is a free curriculum designed by the Women's Sports Foundation to educate girls about health-risk behaviors and the benefits of physical activity. It also delves into adolescent issues and how to deal with them.  Materials are designed for an adult to lead small groups of girls (12 max).  There are two curriculums.  One for ages 3rd to 8th grade and the other for ages 9th to 12th grade.
