GoGirlGo! Gets Started
June 30th, 2008
It's amazing how incredibly passionate adults are about helping young girls get through the trials and tribulations of adolescence. People are coming out of the woodwork asking how they can help to lead a group or promote the program. This makes a strong statement about our communities in the Northwest. We have added a leadership training meeting in August so that anyone interested in GoGirlGo! can come and learn more about it and exactly how to start and lead a group with essentially no funding. Check out our Event information for more information.
Hadassah Seattle GoGirlGo! Leadership Invitational a Success
February 28th, 2008
Over 50 community leaders for youth-serving organizations in King County gathered to find out more about the epidemic of childhood obesity and about the GoGirlGo! curriculum. Representatives came from the Boys and Girls Club, the YMCA, Girl Scouts, local PTSA's, and staff from local schools. They explored ways to positively impact the kids that they work with and found out about how to implement the GoGirlGo! curriculum within their organization. Keep an eye out for newly formed GoGirlGo! groups in your local organizations.
Hadassah Seattle GoGirlGo! Volunteer Kick-off Event
August 1st, 2007
A group of motivated women gathered on August 1st, 2007 to learn about the devastating impact of inactivity and obesity in young girls. Those in attendance also learned about the GoGirlGo! curriculum and the positive impact it has had on the girls that have already gone through the program in other cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, and San Antonio. In small groups, participants discussed the curriculum and planned a mock GoGirlGo! group including the motivational activities they would complete and the physical exercise they would participate in. These women will be an integral part to implementing the local GoGirlGo! Leadership Invitational.
